It's a sad story about a poor guy from Jupiter. He was going to attend the Brazil Carnival. He ran out his energy and landed in Limerick. He needed sunshine to charge the battery. He thought Ireland would be a ideal place. He waited day and night, but the fact is there was no sunshine but rain. Finally, he ran out his last energy and missed the great Carnival and could never went back to his home. He covered him self with brown copper and became a statue. People were very sad about his story. They named him 'Together and Apart'. They thought that although we from different planets but we all need one thing--the sun. Just like we from different countries from the whole world but we all come here for knowledge. But inside, we are different. We have different dreams, different ambitions. One day we leave here,graduate from UL, we could be the one we want to be.

Brown Thomas who was a doctoral student major in medical science of university of limerick. He focus on human anatomy and experiment particularly . Once,there was a challenging to the university, a horrible virus that penetrated into the world, so people need a man like a hero who can stop the virus spreading. Thomas took this task on his shoulder. After he did some experiments, he found that there was a only way to conquer this serious issue- refine cells from alive heart. No one was willing to be the contributor, but the deadline was coming soon, so there was not enough time to waste any more. Thomas decided to contribute himself to survive everyone, he injected the medicine into his body and his assistance completed the rest steps even though he was unwilling to lose his best partner... At last, because of Thomas's great sacrifice, everyone can survival. In order to memory Thomas, people established a structure and put it in UL campus, they wanted Thomas can stay at his this university, where he devoted his all life and career into. Thomas stand on the ground was perfectly straight, he has become a spirit and a symbol that indicated we need a seriously and rigorous attitude toward academic research.

In 1800, Brown Thomas was a famous leader in the army and every soldier respected him. Once he met a boy called Tim in the party and then fell in love, they had a sweet time together for nearly one month, Suddenly, they received orders from their countries, at that time he did not know Tim was the leader of the other army, so they made an appointment to see each other next time. After several days, the war started, Thomas led the army to fight, in the battle he saw another army's leader who was Tim, he could not believe what was happening, both of them were shocked, at that moment Tim was killed by arrows, he ran forward to him and closed his eyes, then left. At last, Thomas won the war for his country, but he lost Tim forever, he could not imagine what has happened to him even after several weeks. As he knew the public would not understand him, and he could not forgive himself, therefore he put himself in the abstract prison, he did not want to hear, to look, to speak, to eat, even to walk, he wished one day the public can support the free love.
This is a story made by THASSIA, LAURA, ALINA, PHOEBE (CHANG LIU) AND TAHANI. Thomas born in 1950 in South Africa. He comes from a poor family but he was a boy full of life although the difficults that the family had. He wanted to make his father and mother proud and wanted to give them a better life. He dedicated all his life studying to get a scholarship on the university, so he decides to start the medicine school at Europe. He was amazed with the new country and the new culture. He couldn’t imagine how wonderful the life here was and how many things he could learn with this new experience. However, when the semester begans, he realized that it would be more difficult than he thought. The others students started to call him “Brown Thomas” because of the color of his skin. Then he started to fell homesick, disappointed and depressive. He tried to struggle with his feelings and with the situation, but he couldn’t stand this anymore. He tried to be a better man, but the other students were so mean to him. After three years of this hard fight, he gave up chasing his dream and hang himself to stop the pain he was feeling. His corpse was found by his classmates after one week because of its rotten smell. Everyone in the university was shocked by his story. Then they decided to create a statue to remind people his story and to teach everyone that we need to embrace others who come from different countries and everyone who is different from us.

One day, four students B., L., R. and W. were doing a research about how to create a new type of food for human. This food would be designed to make people stronger with high energy concentration. They caught a rabbit and did experiences on it. A few days later, they found nothing special on the animal. After it, the Christmas day was coming, so they decided to leave the rabbit in college and went home. In the following day, when they came back, the university had been destroyed and a big monster was there, which looked like their experiment. The creature started to chase people. Suddenly, Thomas, who is their professor, came out with an injection. He injected a special medicine into the monstrous animal and at the same time the creature bited him. Thereafter, the monster returned to the normal rabbit. Later, Thomas felt cold and was not able to move. He realized that he was poisoned by the animal. But it was too late. He started to become an iron man. They were very greatful for his sacrifice. So, they put it on the ground and called him "Brown Thomas".

He cannot endure it any more, so he swear to be rich and give his family a better life. He gave up his research. He planned to make a poison and put it into the Shannon river. People’s drinking water was from the river and the poison could make them ill. By this way he could sell antidote to the man of the town to make money. He was so ambitious and he made the poison fatal by mistake. Many people died because of it. He concealed the fact to his family. His wife and son also died after drinking the water from the river. He cannot forgive himself for his crime. He tried everything he can to save the people , but everything is too late. So he stand there everyday to confess his sins with head down and everyone could give vent their anger at him. Before he died, he felt that his sins cannot be forgave in his life time. So he made a statue of himself to remind people of his crime and continued to confess.
We guess that Brown Thomas is an alien from a planet outside the Galaxy, who came to earth long time ago. He never dies, because he can change between different life forms, including the egg form, the cocoon form(his present status, like half humans half insect) and the humans form. As a result, he must have seen and known everything on Earth, for example, he is able to speak all the languages on Earth, even rare ones. His body can stay and meanwhile his mind can go all over the world very fast. And he can transform himself into a man, woman, boy, girl or even animals. His original mission was to research Earth, to learn everything about it, to collect information for his home planet in order to conquer Earth. But he changed his mind after humans appeared. Now he loves Earth and wants to make it better. He considers himself as an observer, who can not intervene directly. So he helps humans with mind rather than material wishes. To some extent, out science and technology depend on him. He may have told people something which was written in the Bible. He hopes that humans can be united while can have independent thinking too. Now he is asleep. He will wake up when necessary.

Today, Thyago Marinho, Yafang Liu (Nicole), Xiaolong Liang (Shannon) and I discussed about the "Brown Thomas" or "Together and apart", the official name. This sculpture, located between the main building and the library, is known for almost every student in UL. "His" traits show, for us, some loneliness and sadness. We think that the sculpture is called that way because it's placed in a bustling place, with a lot of people walking around (together) and yet, he is alone, closed into itself (apart). Even being called Thomas, the objective of the sculpture is represent every human being because it hasn't any trait that can discern if it's a man or a woman. We thought in story for this sculpture. Actually, is a fairytale: A long long time ago, there was a handsome Russian student called Thomas which was 23 years old and studied architecture at University of Limerick. He was used to having a very bad behaviour, being a really nightmare to teachers. Everyone in school knows about his acts mainly his jokes. Thomas also had a great social life, going to parties and talking to everybody. He thought he could do anything he wanted, besides being very narcisist. In UL, at same time, there was a powerful witch disguised as a librarian. She was very careful with her books and nothing else. One day, to do his final project, Thomas went to the library and borrowed a book. He returned the book all scrawled and with a lot of drawings. When the librarian had saw this, she got very fourious and threw a spell upon Thomas. As punishment, Thomas would be paralyzed as a statue for 20 years besides having his facial traits removed remaining without any aspect from his beauty. He also was placed in a local where could see everybody walking around him without being able to talk with nobody.
Hi, Linda: This week, we and two Brazilian new friends discuss the story of “Brown Thomas”. We exchanged our ideas, we thought the story is: Long time ago, The Leaders of different countries in Europe had conflict with others, then the war started, almost everywhere were destroyed: the house collapsed, the pasture were broken, farmland were ruined, the animals were slaughtered and people were forced to leave their home. A young boy who came from UK were forced into army. In a battle, almost all the soldiers were killed, only this boy survived, he escaped to a little town in Ireland where the people also were persecuted by the war. When he saw the situation, he thought about his hometown, so he decided to stay in this place and use his knowledge and experience to help local citizens. At first, the local people were hostile to him, due to he was a soldier of UK, but he help these guys in the war again and again. Finally these people accepted him and regarded him as a family member. After 10years when the war stopped, they rebuilt the house and restarted farming. They worked as a team and everyone has their own responsibility which makes this project efficient. Unfortunately when they rebuilt a fellow house, the fire broken out and this boy dead. So the local people constructed this iron sculpture and used this boy’s name “Brown Thomas” named it. This sculpture was brown and this sculpture looked like be tied by something because this boy’s skin was brown and he missed his family which made him couldn’t really into the life of the locals. Also this sculpture had another name “Together and Apart” which means when everyone worked together as a team, it is high-efficiency, at the same time you parted from others due to the personality. However everyone living in a large team-society, but we need contacted with each other and we still need independence. Everything has two sides, we need find the suited way in different situations. Hundred years ago, there was a vampire named Brown Thomas, he would never get old, so every ten years he had to migrate to a new place. He has moved to Limerick for three years, and he has found a job as a music lecturer in the university. He liked to play the piano for kids in his leisure time. Day by day everything looked smooth and peaceful if that time, he has not met the girl in the campus. The girl was one of his student, and when the girl first met him, she was fall in loved. He was touched by the girl's passion. But at last he betrayed the girl, and fell in love with another girl. The girl who was betrayed was painful and couldn't forgive him, so she made a exchange with a witch. She use her whole happy life to exchange a curse on him. When he met his true love, he would become a statue stand on this campus. Only at midnight, he could back to a human, but before the sun raised, he has to back to the same position stand as normal. He can never leave the campus until he find the girl and remove his curse. But one hundred years has passed, the girl has died and reborn in another country, she has no memory about her previous life. That's why he stood there lonely and bowed his head. An artist noticed his special experience gave him a new name—together&apart. He has to regret on the campus and looking for the girl forever. But he knows the girl will never come back...

Brown Thomas who was a famous professor of psychology at university of Limerick.He was the most highly regarded university teacher of his time.He always tried his best to teach students academic subjects,mould their personality and focus on the student’s overall development.Thomas paid more attention to his job and just work and work.In other words,he just all about the work.As you know,nobody want to marry with a workaholic.Even so, he was warm heart and he always helped the people who most need help.So,he lived a lonely life in a lonely house without family members and friends.
One day,when he was teaching.Suddenly he saw a slender young woman walks quickly in front of window and he fell in love with her at first sight!She was so outstanding in his own mind.After class,he rushed out of the classroom as if nervous and looked for all corner of deeply old-fashioned campus.The result was surprisingly clear:he can not find her.He missed her day and night.
Everything comes to him who waits.It is amazing that he met her at stable.Setting in a nice bar,he was too ashamed to say anything.Suddenly he said to the waiter,Would you please give me some salty?Each person stared at him,so strange!His face turned red,but still,he put the salty into coffee and drank it.She was so confused.He said,when I was a little boy,my mum always makes this kind of mistake.Now every time I have the salty coffee,I always think of my mum and my lovely childhood.That was a really wonderful night,they stayed up till all hours.Since then,the girl never show up again.He waited for her every day in front of main,after all,it is the place where they first met each other.
After 50 years,he passed away,leaving her a letter which said:My dearest,please forgive my lie---the salty coffee.The first time we dated I was so nervous that actually I wanted some sugar...And I’ve missed you so much!Where have you been all my life?

He looks very different.University past belongs to brown thomas.Brown thomas used to be king of limerick.He didn't allow to Irish people to read and write,moreover he was very strict about his rule .He couldn't see anyone break his law because he was like hitler of ireland.He made his own law.He always forced to people to follow his law because he would be a King of limerick. One day some irish people fed up with king because most of the people want to study they decided we will kill the king. One night people went to kill the king but the couldn't because security was very strong.He was using ultra rays so anyone couldn't break because no one has knowledge about it.finally a group of young guys decided to take knowledge about ultra rays. They got success to break rays .They killed king and stood the statue in university of limerick forever.
The best UL student that ever existed was Brown Thomas. In addition to his excellent engineering skills, he was such a nice guy that studied here for taking his undergraduate diploma. Everyone knew and liked him, he had a incredible ability to make friends. The Stables, spot where he was always, will never see somebody like him again, he was know as the funniest guy. Since he was very famous and gentle, some people were very jealous of him. In this group of people, there was the most famous witch of Limerick. As she had learned some curses from her mother, she didn't hesitate in using in Thomas. She wished that as he was very spontaneous and gentle he would have to keep in the some position for the eternity, welcoming everyone that arrives in UL.

Thomas , who was born in 1970 .. and comes from poor era , He has a twin who called Arthar , They are clever guys from Canada , They have decided to study in Ireland especially in Limerick , They've chosen to study in university Of Limerick , During their study , they were facing some hard conditions because of their poor life , no enough money to buy everything they want but despite that , they have gained lots of honest friend who was helping them , also they are very smart at studying which made them got high marks in all their subjects . Thomas and Arthar , tried to think of new invention to invent , and they found a clever idea , they want to build big stone , which indicate something may stay for a long time ,

I just imagined this symbol with Thomas Edison When he was a kid ,his teachers told Edison he was "too stupid to learn anything. ,He's now considered to be one of the greatest Scientists ,all people known this name today, Thomas achieved a lot of success after his work was no better, as he was fired from his first two jobs for not being productive enough. Even as an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. Of course, all those unsuccessful attempts finally resulted in the design that worked.
At one time the earth had one land. Where there’s no continents or boundaries. Little villages could been saw and the people lived in harmony. But the fear took place over the years. This is a history of Mr. Ice Kil. This beast was a dragon that lived inside the forest. Every soldier that tried to enter the forest never more came back. Suddenly, at the darkest night, the dragon appeared at one village. The scenario was an horror. Blood, fire, screams and death. The soldiers didn’t survived and that land became a battlefield. One day a mysterious man showed. After climbing mountains and cross thousands miles Brown Thomas could be the one who could kill the dragon. However, when he saw the beast in front of him, everything changed and he knew that kill the demon would be impossible. After that Thomas decided that seal the dragon could be the only way to protect the earth. But nothing is too simple. To seal the dragon it requires that the person use black magic but wouldn’t survive after that. Brown Thomas saw him without option and then he we went forward. In one single move and with the specific words, rock emerged from the ground and a cosmic line pushed down the dragon to inside the earth. In consequence Thomas disappeared in ashes. Even though the dragon couldn’t been seen anymore, Thomas could appear after that covered in bronze in a humble position demonstrating your sad end. The history says that this would happened at the beginning of 21th century and 21km far from the sleepy dragon. In 2001 Brown Thomas appeared and the place where the black magic happened is Lough Gur where the circle made of rock keeps the dragon sealed. Today the battlefield calls Limerick and it’s an anagram from Mr. Ice Kil.

A long time ago, a man called Thomas was doing some research about cast iron. He was very excited because he just had come across some amazing compound that could change the characteristics of the metal. It was a cloudy morning, as usual, and he was amused with his discover, running like a kid through his lab, when suddenly, in a minute of distraction he fell into the pan with melted iron - That's the accident on which he would become known as Brown Thomas. His younger brother then, heard the terrible noise and ran there to find out what it was about, when he entered the room he saw Thomas struggling to get out of the pan. In panic he tried to open the drain of the pan and let him free. When all the liquid spread out of the pan, it rested only the body of Thomas. But it was too late, the metal was already impregnate into his body!! He had an idea then: it seemed like chocolate! So why not put it in the sun and let it melt? He took him and set the body in the garden for the hot wheatear do its job, but he hadn’t analysed the pour existence of the sun in Ireland. Days have passed, nothing happened and there stayed the petrified body of Thomas. After years his brother have grown up and started to study his iron body brother, the notice of a metal guy started to spread and lots of scientists came to appreciate this unreal situation. The media had baptized him as Brown Thomas, due to the colour in which he was wrought and as a friendly way to relate with chocolate. Experts later have discovered Brown Tomas was testing iron in a combination with a different type of metal, never used before. This metal when in contact with water, petrifies instantly - Obviously, in Ireland that was the main problem. Whether Thomas’ brother hadn’t put him in the garden, Brown probably would have return to normal in some minutes. When this discovered was world-wide scatted, some scientists got so much interested in the subject, that they ended dedicating their whole lives trying to ‘salve’ Brown Thomas. It was an agglomerate of research, thus funding the university. Nowadays, Brown Thomas is a landmark and the founder figure of the University of Limerick, several people even believe someday Brown Thomas will receive the sufficient amount of sun and he’ll finally melt. His Brother placed him in the University entrance and named ‘Both together and apart’ meaning although they were separated due to the iron, they’re still together in their hearts. Today, it represents the spirit of union and persistence – since his brother never let him go, seriousness and friendship for all the students.

“Thomas was a UL student. Twenty years ago he was wallking by himself at night when aliens abducted him and sended him to Mars. After a lot of experiments that aliens did to Thomas, he suffered mutation and adapted to the weather of Mars. Now he was a diferente human being. Many years has passed and Thomas became a close friend of aliens. One night he apened her heart for them and said he really missed his girlfriend from Limerick and wanted to see her again. The aliens, which used to like the boy so much, sended him back to the University of Limerick, where he could see his loved old girlfriend again. But it was not successful. Thomas was not adapted to the Earth weather anymore, so when he arrived at Limerick he turned petrified and became a brown statue. His old girlfriend, whitch never had a chance to met him again, oppened a store called Brown Thomas in the name of his memorie. “ End
Our inspiration to write the story above comes from the position of the statue, which seems like the man is waiting for someone. So we tried to explain who he was waiting for and the story of Brow Thomas, the statue properly. This one representes the courage of a man to go after his true love.

People say that the better things in life are in the smaller atitudes and they are all for free! Thomas was a simple gardener who always lived in simplicity, but never left the good manners and, somehow, also kept the kindly posture of someone who lives peacefully and respectfully. Edward was a kid when he first met Thomas. He went to school every morning, while Mr. Thomas took care of Mrs. Sandra’s garden. On the way, Edward used to pass in front of the lawn where, commonly, the gentle gardner was trimming the grass. So, he always stopped what he was doing and, with a smooth act, reverenced the little boy. The years have passed. Edward have never forgot the confortable feeling of being greeted by that simple man every morning. It made him think about the importance of each single little act. He became the founding president of the University of Limerick, the first new university in Ireland. And, among the complex buildings and structures, in front of the Main Building, there is a simple sculture. In order to make a tribute to the kindness and respect of that gardener, Brown Thomas was sculpted with a simple shape, only representing a person. It has the same color as the buildings around and has no face, with your arms together to the body, but apart of all the other things in that place. Brown Thomas became a landmark, which is such a contrasting fact. Because it is only an image of something with the shape of a person, in a very sofisticated enviroment. That is the point! Mr. Edward, although the complexity and greatness of UL, desired that the main symbol was simple, and it should pass a respectfull and kind appearence, in order to confort the people who walk through the courtyard, making an enjoyable enviroment. Therefore, Brown Thomas, in other words, is the personification of the university. Trying to make people feel confortable and smoothly greeted with the homely and subtle reverence with his head, as well as Edward in his childhood.

Suddenly, Thomas, who is their professor, came out with an injection. He injected a special medicine into the monstrous animal and at the same time the creature bited him. Thereafter, the monster returned to the normal rabbit. Later, Thomas felt cold and was not able to move. He realized that he was poisoned by the animal. But it was too late. He started to become an iron man. They were very greatful for his sacrifice. So, they put it on the ground and called him "Brown Thomas".
Brown Thomas was a professor on chemistry. He wanted to invent a medicine that can prevent people from being old and died. He devote his whole life in his research, so he didn’t make any money for his family. However, he never succeeded. He feel really bad about himself and people in the town look down upon him. He cannot endure it any more, so he swear to be rich and give his family a better life. He gave up his research. He planned to make a poison and put it into the Shannon river. People’s drinking water was from the river and the poison could make them ill. By this way he could sell antidote to the man of the town to make money. He was so ambitious and he made the poison fatal by mistake. Many people died because of it. He concealed the fact to his family. His wife and son also died after drinking the water from the river. He cannot forgive himself for his crime. He tried everything he can to save the people , but everything is too late. So he stand there everyday to confess his sins with head down and everyone could give vent their anger at him. Before he died, he felt that his sins cannot be forgave in his life time. So he made a statue of himself to remind people of his crime and continued to confess.

We guess that Brown Thomas is an alien from a planet outside the Galaxy, who came to earth long time ago. He never dies, because he can change between different life forms, including the egg form, the cocoon form(his present status, like half humans half insect) and the humans form. As a result, he must have seen and known everything on Earth, for example, he is able to speak all the languages on Earth, even rare ones. His body can stay and meanwhile his mind can go all over the world very fast. And he can transform himself into a man, woman, boy, girl or even animals. His original mission was to research Earth, to learn everything about it, to collect information for his home planet in order to conquer Earth. But he changed his mind after humans appeared. Now he loves Earth and wants to make it better. He considers himself as an observer, who can not intervene directly. So he helps humans with mind rather than material wishes. To some extent, out science and technology depend on him. He may have told people something which was written in the Bible. He hopes that humans can be united while can have independent thinking too. Now he is asleep. He will wake up when necessary.

Today, Thyago Marinho, Yafang Liu (Nicole), Xiaolong Liang (Shannon) and I discussed about the "Brown Thomas" or "Together and apart", the official name.
ReplyDeleteThis sculpture, located between the main building and the library, is known for almost every student in UL. "His" traits show, for us, some loneliness and sadness. We think that the sculpture is called that way because it's placed in a bustling place, with a lot of people walking around (together) and yet, he is alone, closed into itself (apart). Even being called Thomas, the objective of the sculpture is represent every human being because it hasn't any trait that can discern if it's a man or a woman.
We thought in story for this sculpture. Actually, is a fairytale:
A long long time ago, there was a handsome Russian student called Thomas which was 23 years old and studied architecture at University of Limerick. He was used to having a very bad behaviour, being a really nightmare to teachers. Everyone in school knows about his acts mainly his jokes. Thomas also had a great social life, going to parties and talking to everybody. He thought he could do anything he wanted, besides being very narcisist.
In UL, at same time, there was a powerful witch disguised as a librarian. She was very careful with her books and nothing else. One day, to do his final project, Thomas went to the library and borrowed a book. He returned the book all scrawled and with a lot of drawings. When the librarian had saw this, she got very fourious and threw a spell upon Thomas. As punishment, Thomas would be paralyzed as a statue for 20 years besides having his facial traits removed remaining without any aspect from his beauty. He also was placed in a local where could see everybody walking around him without being able to talk with nobody.

ReplyDeleteThis week, we and two Brazilian new friends discuss the story of “Brown Thomas”. We exchanged our ideas, we thought the story is:
Long time ago, The Leaders of different countries in Europe had conflict with others, then the war started, almost everywhere were destroyed: the house collapsed, the pasture were broken, farmland were ruined, the animals were slaughtered and people were forced to leave their home. A young boy who came from UK were forced into army. In a battle, almost all the soldiers were killed, only this boy survived, he escaped to a little town in Ireland where the people also were persecuted by the war. When he saw the situation, he thought about his hometown, so he decided to stay in this place and use his knowledge and experience to help local citizens. At first, the local people were hostile to him, due to he was a soldier of UK, but he help these guys in the war again and again. Finally these people accepted him and regarded him as a family member. After 10years when the war stopped, they rebuilt the house and restarted farming. They worked as a team and everyone has their own responsibility which makes this project efficient. Unfortunately when they rebuilt a fellow house, the fire broken out and this boy dead. So the local people constructed this iron sculpture and used this boy’s name “Brown Thomas” named it.
This sculpture was brown and this sculpture looked like be tied by something because this boy’s skin was brown and he missed his family which made him couldn’t really into the life of the locals. Also this sculpture had another name “Together and Apart” which means when everyone worked together as a team, it is high-efficiency, at the same time you parted from others due to the personality. However everyone living in a large team-society, but we need contacted with each other and we still need independence. Everything has two sides, we need find the suited way in different situations.

Hundred years ago, there was a vampire named Brown Thomas, he would never get old, so every ten years he had to migrate to a new place. He has moved to Limerick for three years, and he has found a job as a music lecturer in the university. He liked to play the piano for kids in his leisure time.

The girl was one of his student, and when the girl first met him, she was fall in loved. He was touched by the girl's passion. But at last he betrayed the girl, and fell in love with another girl. The girl who was betrayed was painful and couldn't forgive him, so she made a exchange with a witch. She use her whole happy life to exchange a curse on him. When he met his true love, he would become a statue stand on this campus. Only at midnight, he could back to a human, but before the sun raised, he has to back to the same position stand as normal. He can never leave the campus until he find the girl and remove his curse. But one hundred years has passed, the girl has died and reborn in another country, she has no memory about her previous life. That's why he stood there lonely and bowed his head.
An artist noticed his special experience gave him a new name—together&apart. He has to regret on the campus and looking for the girl forever. But he knows the girl will never come back...

Brown Thomas who was a famous professor of psychology at university of Limerick.He was the most highly regarded university teacher of his time.He always tried his best to teach students academic subjects,mould their personality and focus on the student’s overall development.Thomas paid more attention to his job and just work and work.In other words,he just all about the work.As you know,nobody want to marry with a workaholic.Even so, he was warm heart and he always helped the people who most need help.So,he lived a lonely life in a lonely house without family members and friends.
ReplyDeleteOne day,when he was teaching.Suddenly he saw a slender young woman walks quickly in front of window and he fell in love with her at first sight!She was so outstanding in his own mind.After class,he rushed out of the classroom as if nervous and looked for all corner of deeply old-fashioned campus.The result was surprisingly clear:he can not find her.He missed her day and night.
Everything comes to him who waits.It is amazing that he met her at stable.Setting in a nice bar,he was too ashamed to say anything.Suddenly he said to the waiter,Would you please give me some salty?Each person stared at him,so strange!His face turned red,but still,he put the salty into coffee and drank it.She was so confused.He said,when I was a little boy,my mum always makes this kind of mistake.Now every time I have the salty coffee,I always think of my mum and my lovely childhood.That was a really wonderful night,they stayed up till all hours.Since then,the girl never show up again.He waited for her every day in front of main,after all,it is the place where they first met each other.
After 50 years,he passed away,leaving her a letter which said:My dearest,please forgive my lie---the salty coffee.The first time we dated I was so nervous that actually I wanted some sugar...And I’ve missed you so much!Where have you been all my life?
Too many students were moved to tears and they made this sculpture to mark his love.

He looks very different.University past belongs to brown thomas.Brown thomas used to be king of limerick.He didn't allow to Irish people to read and write,moreover he was very strict about his rule .He couldn't see anyone break his law because he was like hitler of ireland.He made his own law.He always forced to people to follow his law because he would be a King of limerick.
One day some irish people fed up with king because most of the people want to study they decided we will kill the king.
One night people went to kill the king but the couldn't because security was very strong.He was using ultra rays so anyone couldn't break because no one has knowledge about it.finally a group of young guys decided to take knowledge about ultra rays. They got success to break rays .They killed king and stood the statue in university of limerick forever.

DeleteThe best UL student that ever existed was Brown Thomas. In addition to his excellent engineering skills, he was such a nice guy that studied here for taking his undergraduate diploma. Everyone knew and liked him, he had a incredible ability to make friends. The Stables, spot where he was always, will never see somebody like him again, he was know as the funniest guy. Since he was very famous and gentle, some people were very jealous of him. In this group of people, there was the most famous witch of Limerick. As she had learned some curses from her mother, she didn't hesitate in using in Thomas. She wished that as he was very spontaneous and gentle he would have to keep in the some position for the eternity, welcoming everyone that arrives in UL.

ReplyDeleteThomas , who was born in 1970 .. and comes from poor era , He has a twin who called Arthar , They are clever guys from Canada , They have decided to study in Ireland especially in Limerick , They've chosen to study in university Of Limerick , During their study , they were facing some hard conditions because of their poor life , no enough money to buy everything they want but despite that , they have gained lots of honest friend who was helping them , also they are very smart at studying which made them got high marks in all their subjects .
Thomas and Arthar , tried to think of new invention to invent , and they found a clever idea , they want to build big stone , which indicate something may stay for a long time ,
Suddenly , Thomas was driving to the university , but a hurt accident happened to him , and sadly he is died ..!
All the people were crying , his twin Arthar , His teachers , friends , and his family .. they will never forget him !
So in that sense , Arthar Has built a great stone , which called Brownthomas , in university of limerick ..

ReplyDeleteI just imagined this symbol with Thomas Edison When he was a kid ,his teachers told Edison he was "too stupid to learn anything. ,He's now considered to be one of the greatest Scientists ,all people known this name today, Thomas achieved a lot of success after his work was no better, as he was fired from his first two jobs for not being productive enough. Even as an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. Of course, all those unsuccessful attempts finally resulted in the design that worked.
At one time the earth had one land. Where there’s no continents or boundaries. Little villages could been saw and the people lived in harmony. But the fear took place over the years. This is a history of Mr. Ice Kil. This beast was a dragon that lived inside the forest. Every soldier that tried to enter the forest never more came back. Suddenly, at the darkest night, the dragon appeared at one village. The scenario was an horror. Blood, fire, screams and death. The soldiers didn’t survived and that land became a battlefield. One day a mysterious man showed. After climbing mountains and cross thousands miles Brown Thomas could be the one who could kill the dragon. However, when he saw the beast in front of him, everything changed and he knew that kill the demon would be impossible. After that Thomas decided that seal the dragon could be the only way to protect the earth. But nothing is too simple. To seal the dragon it requires that the person use black magic but wouldn’t survive after that. Brown Thomas saw him without option and then he we went forward. In one single move and with the specific words, rock emerged from the ground and a cosmic line pushed down the dragon to inside the earth. In consequence Thomas disappeared in ashes. Even though the dragon couldn’t been seen anymore, Thomas could appear after that covered in bronze in a humble position demonstrating your sad end. The history says that this would happened at the beginning of 21th century and 21km far from the sleepy dragon. In 2001 Brown Thomas appeared and the place where the black magic happened is Lough Gur where the circle made of rock keeps the dragon sealed. Today the battlefield calls Limerick and it’s an anagram from Mr. Ice Kil.

DeleteA long time ago, a man called Thomas was doing some research about cast iron. He was very excited because he just had come across some amazing compound that could change the characteristics of the metal. It was a cloudy morning, as usual, and he was amused with his discover, running like a kid through his lab, when suddenly, in a minute of distraction he fell into the pan with melted iron - That's the accident on which he would become known as Brown Thomas.
ReplyDeleteHis younger brother then, heard the terrible noise and ran there to find out what it was about, when he entered the room he saw Thomas struggling to get out of the pan. In panic he tried to open the drain of the pan and let him free. When all the liquid spread out of the pan, it rested only the body of Thomas. But it was too late, the metal was already impregnate into his body!! He had an idea then: it seemed like chocolate! So why not put it in the sun and let it melt? He took him and set the body in the garden for the hot wheatear do its job, but he hadn’t analysed the pour existence of the sun in Ireland. Days have passed, nothing happened and there stayed the petrified body of Thomas.
After years his brother have grown up and started to study his iron body brother, the notice of a metal guy started to spread and lots of scientists came to appreciate this unreal situation. The media had baptized him as Brown Thomas, due to the colour in which he was wrought and as a friendly way to relate with chocolate. Experts later have discovered Brown Tomas was testing iron in a combination with a different type of metal, never used before. This metal when in contact with water, petrifies instantly - Obviously, in Ireland that was the main problem. Whether Thomas’ brother hadn’t put him in the garden, Brown probably would have return to normal in some minutes.
When this discovered was world-wide scatted, some scientists got so much interested in the subject, that they ended dedicating their whole lives trying to ‘salve’ Brown Thomas. It was an agglomerate of research, thus funding the university. Nowadays, Brown Thomas is a landmark and the founder figure of the University of Limerick, several people even believe someday Brown Thomas will receive the sufficient amount of sun and he’ll finally melt. His Brother placed him in the University entrance and named ‘Both together and apart’ meaning although they were separated due to the iron, they’re still together in their hearts. Today, it represents the spirit of union and persistence – since his brother never let him go, seriousness and friendship for all the students.

ReplyDelete“Thomas was a UL student. Twenty years ago he was wallking by himself at night when aliens abducted him and sended him to Mars. After a lot of experiments that aliens did to Thomas, he suffered mutation and adapted to the weather of Mars. Now he was a diferente human being.
Many years has passed and Thomas became a close friend of aliens. One night he apened her heart for them and said he really missed his girlfriend from Limerick and wanted to see her again. The aliens, which used to like the boy so much, sended him back to the University of Limerick, where he could see his loved old girlfriend again. But it was not successful. Thomas was not adapted to the Earth weather anymore, so when he arrived at Limerick he turned petrified and became a brown statue.
His old girlfriend, whitch never had a chance to met him again, oppened a store called Brown Thomas in the name of his memorie. “

Our inspiration to write the story above comes from the position of the statue, which seems like the man is waiting for someone. So we tried to explain who he was waiting for and the story of Brow Thomas, the statue properly. This one representes the courage of a man to go after his true love.

People say that the better things in life are in the smaller atitudes and they are all for free! Thomas was a simple gardener who always lived in simplicity, but never left the good manners and, somehow, also kept the kindly posture of someone who lives peacefully and respectfully. Edward was a kid when he first met Thomas. He went to school every morning, while Mr. Thomas took care of Mrs. Sandra’s garden. On the way, Edward used to pass in front of the lawn where, commonly, the gentle gardner was trimming the grass. So, he always stopped what he was doing and, with a smooth act, reverenced the little boy.
ReplyDeleteThe years have passed. Edward have never forgot the confortable feeling of being greeted by that simple man every morning. It made him think about the importance of each single little act. He became the founding president of the University of Limerick, the first new university in Ireland. And, among the complex buildings and structures, in front of the Main Building, there is a simple sculture. In order to make a tribute to the kindness and respect of that gardener, Brown Thomas was sculpted with a simple shape, only representing a person. It has the same color as the buildings around and has no face, with your arms together to the body, but apart of all the other things in that place.
Brown Thomas became a landmark, which is such a contrasting fact. Because it is only an image of something with the shape of a person, in a very sofisticated enviroment. That is the point! Mr. Edward, although the complexity and greatness of UL, desired that the main symbol was simple, and it should pass a respectfull and kind appearence, in order to confort the people who walk through the courtyard, making an enjoyable enviroment. Therefore, Brown Thomas, in other words, is the personification of the university. Trying to make people feel confortable and smoothly greeted with the homely and subtle reverence with his head, as well as Edward in his childhood.
